XML Technologies

I have been working with XML since 1999 – since the XML/DTD standard was published.

20 years later, you can’t imagine how exciting it was to have a technology that could describe, store and process complex structured data. During this time, many public XML standards were created and companies developed numerous XML applications.

XML Standards

Relatively early in my training career, I offered seminars on many XML standards. Some technologies, such as XML Schema and of course XSLT and XSL-FO, have stood the test of time.

Altova

Since the first version of Altova XMLSpy, I have also known Altova products such as Altova MapForce or Altova StyleVision and use them in my courses and projects.

XML Standards

I offer a separate seminar for each large and important XML standard, with multi-day combination seminars being particularly suitable for getting started with modeling and processing XML.

  • XML Introduction
  • XML Schema
  • XSLT
  • XSL-FO

Altova MissionKit

In theory, you only need a text editor to work with XML, but a product like Altova XMLSpy has a big impact on rapid development. In addition, Altova offers graphical tools for processing XML data into print formats or simply for data integration.

  • Altova XMLSpy
  • Altova StyleVision
  • Altova MapForce

DB Integration

All major databases offer options to generate XML data from relational queries, to decompose incoming XML data relationally, or to store it entirely in XML and query or process it later.

  • MS SQL Server and XML
  • Oracle and XML
